Leni Robredo in her first few weeks as vice president of the country, has done no more than visiting foreign countries for press conferences and in her own words, “compiling data”.
Before her inauguration, Robredo went to Tokyo, Japan to meet with members of the Japanese parliamentary as well as overseas Filipinos. On August 2, she was in Thailand to receive the Honorary Outstanding Women of 2016 award from Southeast Asia. On August 6, Robredo was in the United States of America to attend a press conference and an induction of officers for the National Federation of Filipino-American Associations (NaFFAA).
The said press conference was held in the Valley Forge Casino was her “thank you note” to Overseas Filipino Workers who gave her their votes.
When members of the NaFFAA were asked who shoulders Leni’s travel expenditures, they said it was from “friends”.
Robredo’s trips have raised a few eyebrows and earned criticisms. Netizens questioned the ethics of this in light with the fact that Duterte has yet to get out of the country.
Netizens claimed these visits not only were expensive but were also “unethical and uncalled for”.

Robredo was given no position in Duterte’s cabinet and no power in the government to execute projects.
She was instead given a position as chairperson of Housing and Urban Development Coordinating Council (HUDCC), which she claims is not a department and consists merely of a housing portfolio for coordination.
