President Rodrigo Duterte and Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF) Founding Chairman Nur Misuari finally exchanged words over the telephone on Tuesday night.
In his speech Wednesday, August 31 at the NAIA Terminal 2, Duterte said that Misuari requested that the peace talks between the Duterte administration and the Moro rebels should take place in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
The President said that he told MNLF founder that: “dalian mo (hurry up), Nur. We are wasting lives here.”
During the telephone conversation, the two parties agreed that it may only take two days for the peace panels to sign a memorandum of agreement pursuing the peace process in Mindanao.
It can be recalled that Misuari has a pending warrant of arrest because of the Zamboanga siege last 2013.
The President also wished that Misuari will not be arrested should the peace talks materialize. Duterte emphasized that MNLF leader will play an important role in the negotiations. AJRSP
