On Sunday, Malacañang officials said the first public service announcements (PSAs) of Pres. Duterte on the dangers of illegal drug use, will be shown for free by SM Cinema and TV network ABS-CBN Corporation.

According to Presidential Communications Secretary Martin Andanar, the PSAs were created by award-winning director Brillante Mendoza.

Four of the anti-drug ads are 30-seconds long while another two lasts for two and half minutes said Andanar.

"SM Cinemas has committed to show the longer ads in its 300 theaters nationwide," said Andanar.

Eugenio "Gabby" Lopez III, ABS-CBN chairman and his sister, Environment Secretary Gina Lopez, meanwhile, have committed to air the 30-second ads for free.

Andanar said Mendoza rendered his services for the ad, pro bono.

"Alam po natin na kapag nagpapagawa ng isang 30-seconder 'yung mga malalaking ahensya ay umaabot po ang gastos ng halos apat na milyon ang isang 30-seconder. Napaka-mahal niyan," he said.

"Pero, ang magandang balita ay ni singkong duling ay hindi po tayo siningil ni direktor Brillante Mendoza sa apat na 30-seconder na kanyang ginawa at ito po ay world-class."

Andanar said he has yet to coordinate with television networks GMA-7 and TV-5 regarding the PSAs, but he is sure that they will also support the ads.

During the election period, ABS-CBN was also one of the TV networks that aired the anti-Duterte campaign ad.
