Yesterday during the flag-raising ceremony at Camp Crame, Vice President Leni Robredo urged law enforcers to always use legitimate way in the campaign against illegal drugs and criminality.
“All Filipinos dream of a drug-and-crime-free society. But the manner in which we achieve our goal is as important as succeeding in such endeavor,” Leni said.
She expressed her statement also in line with the opening of the Senate hearing yesterday, in its investigation into the rising number of drug-related deaths, alleged to be extrajudicial and vigilante attacks.
Leni also cited the initiatives of her late husband,, former interior secretary jesse Robredo, which included the PNP Integrated Transformation Program-Performance Governance System—now called PNP Patrol Plan 2030.
She said that her husband was the one who introduced the P10,000 annual Christmas bonus for policemen, and also the salary increase for cops in 2011. ASCS
