LOOK: P5 million check of Olympian silver medalist Hidilyn Diaz

Hidilyn Diaz has given the Philippines its first Olympic award following 20 years. Diaz was granted a silver medal in the ladies' 53-kg weightlifting division of the 2016 Summer Games on August 7 (August 8 in Manila).

Hidilyn earned a reward adding up to $106,959 for consummation the Philippines' 20-year medal drought. The 25-year-old Diaz followed through on her third outing to the Olympics, lifting a sum of 200kg to procure an award. 


Diaz's check for P5 million was at that point marked and prepared before the plane touched down in Manila.

The check, issued by the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) Sports Developmental Fund, and marked by PSC administrator William "Butch" Ramirez, was issued for "Payment of cash incentives for winning the silver medal in 2016 Rio Olympics, Brazil."

The Zamboanga City inhabitant arrived Thursday evening, August 11 on Emirates Flight 332 with kindred Olympian Nestor Colonia and mentor Alfonsito Aldanete and will continue later to Davao for an obligingness call with Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte at the presidential guesthouse in Panacan, Davao City.
