On Monday, President Rodrigo Duterte said that he will spend 10 days in Mindanao to talk with the Moro Islamic Liberation Font (MILf) and Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF) after the ambush incident two days after he declared a unilateral ceasefire.

“I have to fix the Mindanao issue, I will look at the framework,” the President said.

However, the chief executive said that talks with the Abu Sayyaf weren’t considered.

Duterte said that he will not deal with persons of extreme brutality and there is no redeeming factor for him to sit down and talk with criminals.

Abu Sayyaf has no ideology, he explained.

The president is planning to hold the discussions with MNLF founder Nur Misuari, who is wanted for rebellion. | ASCS
