During his speech at Camp Lapu Lapu in Cebu City on Friday, President Rodrigo Duterte called U.S. Ambassador to the Philippines Philip Goldberg ‘bakla’.
“Okay naman siya (U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry) kasi, nag-away kami ng ambassador niya (Goldberg). Yung ambassador niyang bakla, put*ngin, buwisit ako diyan. Nakikisali doon sa election, giving (a) statement. You’re not supposed to do that,” he said before the soldiers at the camp.
The president has threatened to cut ties with the U.S. and Australia after the ambassadors of each country criticized him during the campaign period, specifically when he joked about the jailhouse rape of a missionary.
Duterte also boasted the grant from the U.S. during Kerry’s visit. “So, that Kerry, nu’ng pumunta siya dito, nagkain kami. Iniwanan pa kami ni, si Delfin ng $33 million. Okay ito ah. Bastusin natin ulit para mag-areglo itong buang na ito. Pera pala ito. Pera-pera lang,” he said.
Among the topics he tackled in his speech, he also talked about how he sees himself as pro-poor and slammed businessmen he called as ‘oligarchs’. ASCS
