Earlier this Sunday, President Rodrigo Duterte told appointees in all government agencies to leave their posts, except for his Cabinet secretaries, because of the continued corruption in their offices.

“On Monday, I would declare all positions in the government… If you are there because of a presidential appointment, I will declare all your positions all throughout the country vacant.”

He explained that the posts can be taken over by the assistants and deputies until a replacement is appointed.

“Until now, in my provincial visits, I still hear corruption being committed by people, especially in regulatory agencies,” the president said.

Among the agencies rigged with corruption, he pointed out, are the Land Transportation Office (LTO) and Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB).

Duterte instructed the LTFRB chief to “Come to me and see me in Malacanang.” Also, except for career officials, he told LTO executives and appointees to “consider your positions vacant as of this hour.”

“All of them. Lahat. It will number in thousands. Consider yourself in the crucible of the truth about corruption in this country.”

His Cabinet officials, on the other hand, according to him, are “too early” to be corrupted. He also declared to corrupt officials that, “If you are here to commit corruption, day in and day out, please stay out.” ASCS
