If allegations are false, one can immediately say it is.
But Senator Leila de Lima was lips-locked on Monday about her former driver’s alleged involvement in illegal drugs.
“I would not be answering those questions at this point,” De Lima said in an interview with CNN Philippines.
She asserted that she is not, in anyway, connected or linked to or involved in illegal drugs. She even said that she will stand to that assertion until her last breath.
President Rodrigo Duterte earlier bared publicly that the lady senator is having an affair with her former driver, who is allegedly collecting drug money for her at the National Bilibid Prison.
Duterte emphasized that De Lima’s relationship with the driver “gave rise to the corruption that was happening inside the national penitentiary.”
“I’m sorry, I’d rather that we focus on the inquiry because precisely in the last few days, perhaps wittingly or unwittingly, some elements have been trying to distract or divert the real issue at hand. The very issue at hand is the issue of summary executions, extra-legal killings …including the so-called vigilante killings…” said the senator.
Meanwhile, De Lima chairs the Senate committee on justice and human rights which is presently looking into the alleged extrajudicial killings and summary executions cases under the Duterte administration. AJRSP
