Bato says gambling lords offer him millions, he won’t accept

“Hindi ko talaga tatanggapin.”

Philippine National Police Chief Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa said on Friday that he was offered millions by illegal gambling kingpins as bribes, to have themselves protected from investigation.

Dela Rosa said this in his speech at the National Capital Region Police Office’s 115th Police Service Anniversary held in Camp Bagong Diwa in Taguig.

"Alam ninyo, kung ikaw pala ay Chief PNP, ang laki pala ng pera ino-offer ng illegal gambling. Malaki ang pera sa illegal gambling. Millions. Pero hindi ko tatanggapin. Hindi ko talaga tatanggapin."

Dela Rosa urged policemen, especially the new ones to not involve themselves in illegal drug trade and other illegal activities.

"I asked the President about this. Sabi ko, 'Sir, sayang din. Tao lang naman tayo.' Sabi niya, 'Sige, tanggapin mo iyan... So nakatali na ang kamay mo," he said.

After the war on illegal drugs which has cost the lives of wpproximately one thousand suspects, the administration has announced that they will target illegal gambling next. MJM
