Andanar: 31% decrease in index crimes

On Sunday, Presidential Communications Office Secretary Martin Andanar said that the crime rate in the country was consistently decreasing as a result of President Rodrigo Duterte’s campaign against crime and illegal drugs.


“Patuloy na umaani ng positibong resulta ang kampanya kontra droga at krimen ng kasalukuyang administrasyon. Isang buwan matapos umupo sa Malacanang ni Presidente Rodrigo Roa Duterte, bumagsak ang incidence ng crime to 50,817 nung Hulyo 2016 kumpara sa 56,339 na insidente ng krimen Hulyo 2015, base poi to sa talaan ng Philippine National Police,” Andanar disclosed in an interview.

Index crimes had a 31% decrease, from 17,105 in July 2015 to 11,800 crime incidents last month, he said.
Index crimes is defined by the PNP as crimes against persons (rape, murder, homicide, etc.) and crimes against property (robbery, theft, etc.).

“Patunay ito na ang matapang na solusyon at mabilis na aksyon kung saan nakilala an gating Pangulo ay hindi lamang slogan nung panahon ng kampanya. Ito ay isang pagbabagong mararamdaman ng lahat ng Filipino saan mang sulok sila ng bansa.”

There was a 40.3% decrease in crimes against property while 13.82% in crimes against persons.

Andanar called on to the citizens to cooperate with the PNP so that the crime rate would further decrease in the country. ASCS
