After a list of personalities involved in illegal drug trade was read by President Rodrigo Duterte himself earlier today, three local executives who were included have gone to Camp Crame to clear out their names.
Mayor Cipriano Violago (San Rafael, Bulacan), Mayor Martin de Guzman (Bauang, La Union), and former Mayor Rasmiya Macabagos (Surigao Del Sur) headed over to the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group HQ in Camp Crame in hopes of explaining their side.
According to Violago, he is ready to cooperate with the investigation so that the allegations against him will be disproved. De Guzman also said that he is still confused as to why he is included in the President’s list.
Last Friday, several local executives—both incumbent and not—went to CIDG to give their respective statements. Earlier this week, the surrender of Mayor Rolando Espinosa made headlines as he was the first to surrender to PNP Director General Ronald Dela Rosa.
Dela Rosa said that he is expecting more local execs to surrender. He also reiterated the importance of the intention of those who surrendered to help the administration’s campaign against illegal drugs. ASCS
