The Cabinet members and President Duterte gave due importance and emphasis on the preparedness for the La Niña phenomenon and the campaign against drugs, during their second cabinet meeting on Monday.

Communications Secretary Martin Andanar said that the agenda of the meeting was more on agriculture, drugs, and the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) update.

The recent tropical cyclone Butchoy has left one dead and another one missing in its wake. It was the most recent cyclone that entered the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR), where it stayed for three days.

However, despite their discussion on La Niña, no specific details have been disclosed. State weather bureau PAGASA has expressed that this year, there is an increasing possibility of La Niña development.

La Niña is a weather phenomenon that causes more raincloud-carrying winds from the east to go into the direction of our country.

Andanar also said that the topic of drugs was discussed in the meeting, although it was also not elaborated.

Just last week, Duterte has dropped names of high-profile drug lords operating in the country. In addition to this, he also disclosed the police officials who are purportedly protectors of drug rings. He is expected to name the mayors who are allegedly also linked to drugs.

The second cabinet meeting was attended by Vice President LeniRobredo for the first time, after her appointment thru a phone call from Duterte last week. | ASCS - FNPH
