The new administration of the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) has implemented the ‘no gift policy’ wherein foodstuffs and even small items are not allowed.
This policy was emphasized and duly implemented when a birthday cake for an employee was not allowed by the guards at the lobby to be delivered at the project management and implementation service (PMIS).
The colleagues of the celebrant chipped in for the cake which was worth Php500. The guards asserted that the cake was from a taxpayer. However, they said that the deliveries of packed foods from fast food eateries are allowed.
The orders, according to them, came from the chief of the internal investigation division and they are to implement the tough policy of the new Internal Revenue Commissioner Caesar Dulay. It is part of his program of ending the graft at the bureau.
