Ping Lacson is in favor of Death Penalty

Senator-elect Panfilo "Ping" Lacson thinks capital punishment ought to be dispensed to those found liable of plunder, or even the less-extreme wrongdoing of graft, particularly it is a "habit" of the charged.

Lacson focused on anti-plunder law that is should bear down hard on the individuals who constantly take open assets, regardless of the possibility that the sum is not exactly the P50-million limit determined by the present law.

The present law, Republic Act (RA) 7080, rebuffs ownership of ill gotten riches through a mix or arrangement of unmistakable or criminal acts including P50 million. On the off chance that it's under P50 million, then the wrongdoing is joining.

"Sa akin, hindi importante ang halaga," said Lacson, a previous Philippine National Police (PNP) chief.

"Ang importante kung ito ba ay continual na ginagawa ng taong gobyerno. Kung recidivist, maski wala string P50 million dapat talaga parusahan nang mabigat, walang pyansa," said Lacson, who kept running as a free competitor in the senatorial race.

He included that if capital punishment were to be reimposed in plunder cases, those discovered liable of periodic taking ought to be liable to this punishment.

"Kung pwede, kung mabalik ang death penalty, masentensyahan siya ng death. Kasi sa hirap ng buhay lalo sa mga kanayunan, ang P50 million, P10 million, P20 million, it doesn't make a difference. Kung repetitively ginagawa dapat talaga parusahan nang mabigat," he said.
