Just in: Presidential elections is now moved to June 10 - COMELEC

More than 54 million Filipinos have joined to vote in the 2016 national and local elections. 

As indicated by the last report of the Commission on Elections (Comelec) dated December 16, there are 54,363,329 enlisted voters across the country for the 2016 surveys. 

This figure is higher than the 52,014,648 enrolled voters amid the 2013 midterm races. In the mean time, in the latest October 2013 barangay (town) races, there were 53,786,223 voters who joined. 

Excluded in the 2016 aggregates are the evaluated 2.5 million voters whose records have been deactivated because of rebelliousness with the Comelec's "No Bio, No Boto" (no biometrics, no vote) arrangement. 

Under Republic Act 10367, a voter needs his or her biometrics taken before he or she can vote in the May 2016 races and in succeeding surveys. The Comelec clarified this is intended to rinse the voters' rundown. 


Just today, the COMELEC announced that presidential elections will be moved to June 10, 2016 due to the several system flaws of PCOS machine. COMELEC chairman Andres Bautista confirmed that they did several mock polls and elections to test the reliability of the machine and the results are not yet dependable.
