Binay on Monday named Duterte as the "pambansang berdugo" or national killer, in reference to the claimed extra-judicial killings sanctioned by the 71-year-old mayor.
"Hindi po dapat maging Pangulo itong si Duterte... Kung may 'Pambansang Kamao', si Manny Pacquiao, mayroon naman po tayong 'pambansang berdugo' (Duterte)," Binay said.
Roxas, in the mean time, demanded that Duterte is "a threat to democary." (Read: Duterte: Roxas and his minions are the real threats to democracy)
"Si Duterte is the most risky thing to happen to our nation since Ferdinand Marcos... One-man standard; siya ang judge, jury and killer. He is a risk to majority rule government," the administration applicant said.
Repelling back, the intense talking mayor attacked Binay and Roxas on Monday evening while campaigning in Taguig, the turf of his running mate, Senator Alan Peter Cayetano.
"Sabi nila, I am a risk to democracy. Ako raw ang berdugo ng bayan. VP, ikaw ang berdugo ng pera ng tao," he said,, drawing cheers from supporters.
"Ito namang isa (Roxas), ako raw ay diktador, pala-away, mainitin ang ulo. Kaya ka walang sumusunod sa gobyerno ninyo, kasi ikaw, bakla ka."
The sharp trades of the three presidential applicants come in the heels of the most recent Social Weather Stations (SWS) study, which demonstrated Duterte wrestling the top spot of presidential race far from Senator Grace Poe.
The survey, directed on March 30 - April 2 and charged by BusinessWorld, saw 27% of the competitors picking the extreme talking leader.
He was trailed by Poe with 23%. Given the review's room for give and take of +/ - 3, the representative was factually tied with Binay who got 20%.
Positioning third was Roxas with 18%.
Representative Miriam Santiago brought the base spot with 5%.
In any case, Duterte only forgot about his surge in the new SWS survey.
"The ratings don't intend to me. I am the main card who can explain what distresses this nation," he said.
