An offiicial of Caritas Philippines lashed out at a comic book that depicted presidential aspirant Mar Roxas as a "hero" amid height of storm Yolanda.

Fr. Edwin Gariguez, official secretary of Caritas Philippines, called the campaign material "disgraceful and unacceptable propaganda."

Gariguez said. “In conscience, I need to belie this hypocritical claim of Mar Roxas claiming to be a hero in the emergency response.”

“We need to bring truth and decency in our electoral process. A call that I dare to make to all candidates,”he added.

Caritas Philippines is also called the National Secretariat for Social Action-Justice and Peace (Nassa), the compassionate and backing arm of the bishops.

Titled "Sa Gitna ng Unos" (in the middle of the storm), the 28-page comic book portrays the administration standard bearer as an action man who took a chance with his life to help the typhoon victims.

Fr. Jazz Siapco, chief of Lipa Archdiocesan Social Action Center, additionally condemned the comic book as "deceiving" and just intended to propel a political motivation.

Siapco said, “He is not a hero. I would consider those who have helped silently in their own little ways the heroes. They are the real heroes."
