Actor-politician Roderick Paulate has been sacked from the office as Quezon City councilor due to 'ghost employees'. Along with 3 other officials, the Ombudsman decided to dismiss them over the alleged hiring of 'unrecorded employees' in 2010.
Paulate, Calalay and city liaison officers Flordeliza Alvarez and Vicente Bajamunde were all found culpable of falsification of official records, serious dishonesty and grave misconduct.
According to the Ombudsman, the 'ghost employees' are receiving each month a salary ranging from P5000 to P10000.
During the investigation, the Ombudsman found that Paulate expent a total of P1.125-million through fraud payrolls with 30 sham employees from July to November 2010.
The four defendants were also punished with accessory penalties of perpetual disqualification from holding public office, cancellation of eligibility, and forfeiture of retirement benefits.
