There are lots of stories about "from rags to riches" and one of them is the anecdote of a former scavenger but eventually turned into a Certified Public Accountant (CPA).

Meet Gilbert Opena from Tondo Manila. He narrated on his interview with TV 5 Aksyon that when he was in High School and College, he looks for and collects discarded items in different subdivision and sell them. He saves money he earned for scavenging to sustain his tuition fees.

He also experienced going to school without money and food. with the help of his grandfather Junior, he was able to graduate with his degree.

After graduation, one private company helped him to finance the fees for his board review. Because of his determination, he passed the licensure exam for Accountancy.

Now, he is working in one of the biggest auditing company of the world.
