Over 300 marijuana shrubs were uprooted by lawmen in South Cotabato on Monday, the third operation in the province in just six days.

According to Senior Inspector Harold Cornel, it was the villagers who led them to the location which was in a secluded farm in Datal Biao, Barangay Danlag, Tampakan.

Cornel said that upon seeing teams of policemen, local officials, and soldiers approaching, the gunmen overseeing the farm ran away.

In an operation, they were also able to uproot 280 marijuana shrubs in the same barangay last week.

The raid was a joint effort of the Tiboli municipal police, soldiers from the Army’s 57th Infantry Battalion, and local officials. The operation was a response to the tips by informants who wished to remain anonymous.

Upon destroying the plants, the raiding team quickly set on fire the 400 marijuana shrubs. They were able to arrest the caretaker who in an ethnic Tiboli tribesman named Subang Suken Taman. Taman also turned in different kinds of firearms and ammunition. ASCS
